Fair questions
Why does Plumo need Accessibility?
It is how Plumo reads your selection, hears ⌘C ⌘C and puts the corrected text back — all three come from that one permission. Granted once, with one switch in System Settings; the app explains itself first and never uses it for anything else.
Do I need an API key?
Not for the free engine — a local model runs on your own machine without any account. Cloud engines use your own key from the provider (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google…), so you pay them directly at cost, with no markup from us.
How much do cloud corrections cost?
Typically a fraction of a cent each — a busy month of writing usually costs less than a coffee. The exact amount depends on your provider's current pricing, the model you pick and how long your texts are, so Plumo shows your real running total in the menu instead of promising numbers it doesn't control.
Can I trust the corrections?
Plumo uses AI models, and AI makes mistakes — a correction or a translation can occasionally be wrong or change a nuance. Nothing is replaced behind your back: the result always appears in the panel first, and only Enter puts it into your text. For anything important, read before you accept.
Does it work offline?
Yes — with the on-device engine everything works with no connection at all.
What happens after the trial?
Plumo keeps working, free, with the on-device engine. The trial starts only when you choose to start it, and when it ends the cloud engines wait behind a one-time purchase. No subscription, no expiring license.
What exactly do I get for $29?
Cloud engines with your own key, the tone variants, Summarize, and actions you write yourself — on up to three devices, with updates included. The free version keeps correcting and translating on your own machine for as long as you want, and never asks for an account.
Can I write my own instructions?
Yes — that is what Pro's custom actions are. You give the action a name and an instruction ("rewrite as a polite reply", "turn into bullet points"), and it appears in the panel beside Improve and Translate. It works with the on-device engine too, so your own text never has to leave your machine.
Is the demo on this page the real app?
It is the real panel, drawn in HTML, with answers prepared in advance — a web page cannot run a language model on your text. The app itself does exactly what the demo shows, in any application, with the engine you choose.
